PAGASA Weather Advisory (January 5 - 9, 2012) - Philippines

State weather bureau PAGASA on Monday released an eight-day weather advisory for the specific period January 5 to 9, 2012.
    January 5: Heavy rains in eastern Mindanao encompassing Surigao provinces—Compostela Valley—Davao Oriental, Pujada Peninsula areaJanuary 6: Heavy rains in the Saranggani, Sultan Kudarat, and South Cotabato areas; Bicol-Palawan strip light to moderate rainsJanuary 7: Light to moderate rains in Bicol and VisayasJanuary 8: Eastern Mindanao will receive moderate to heavy rains.

    January 9: Surigao will experience heavy rains.
According to PAGASA, as in any numerical model, the chance of changes in the weather forecasts for January 5 to 9 is possible.

Most of the areas mentioned above are water saturated, the agency said, adding that landslide, flashfloods, and floods are distinct possibilities, especially in Mindanao.

The eastern seaboard of the Philippines is given special monitoring. Because of the effects of La NiƱa, the eastern seaboard may receive more rains than the normal average, PAGASA added.
